Candle Care
A candle is a quiet ritual, but it is still an open flame. A little care helps the wax burn evenly, keeps the scent release steady, and allows each candle to last more beautifully.
How To Light
How To Light
- Before lighting, trim the wick to around 0.5 to 0.6 cm.
- Place the candle on a stable, heat resistant surface.
- Keep it away from curtains, paper, fabric, children, and pets.
- Remove any lid, cover, or packaging before lighting.
- Light the wick carefully and allow the flame to settle. For wood wick candles, the flame may take a little longer to catch evenly.
How To Burn Evenly
How To Burn Evenly
- For the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface before putting out the flame. This helps prevent tunnelling, where the candle burns down the centre and leaves wax around the sides.
- For each later burn, try to let the wax pool reach close to the edge again. This helps the candle continue to burn more evenly over time.
How To Extinguish
How To Extinguish
- Use a candle snuffer where possible to put out the flame gently and reduce smoke.
- Do not blow too strongly, as this may move the wick, create smoke, or splash melted wax.
- After extinguishing, let the wax cool and set before moving the candle.
- For candles with a lid, use it only according to the product design. Do not place a lid back on while the flame is still burning. Let the candle fully extinguish and cool before covering.
Wick Notes
Wick Notes
- Cotton wicks, cotton linen wicks, and wood wicks may burn slightly differently. Keep all wicks trimmed before use to help the flame stay calm and steady.
- Wood wicks may create a soft crackling sound while burning. Allow enough time for the wax to melt evenly across the surface.
Container Notes
Container Notes
- Ceramic, stainless steel, and glass containers may become warm or hot during use. Always place candles on a stable, heat resistant surface and let the vessel cool completely before touching or moving.
- If your candle comes with a wood lid, use it as a cover only after the candle has fully cooled. Do not place it on the candle while the flame is still burning.
